On Thursday November 22nd, JRM flew to the city of Acapulco accompanied by Patrick Slim, member of the Board of Directors of the Mission, Alexander Acha, Eduardo Verastegui and Manuel Capetillo, for the Consecration of the Archdiocese of Acapulco and the State of Guerrero. Upon their arrival to the airport, the Archbishop joined them in a press conference raising awareness of the importance of such an event and encouraging the people to surrender their lives to God’s paternal love and protection. The Church had begun the great task of consecrating the entire state and Archdiocese through the different Parishes it comprises, with especial focus on families and the youth. They organized a pilgrimage of the 3 most important images of the region through the Great and Small Coast and Acapulco, visiting the different communities and chapels, in an effort to build peace and to spread the message of the Gospel to extend the fruit of the love Christ came to give us all. Thus, on the night of the 22nd, this effort culminated in a massive consecration event, where the more than 11 thousand people who attended, listened to the Mission’s message of conversion and the need of a spiritual awakening acknowledging their true identity of “children of God” through JRM who was then followed by Manuel Capetillo who spoke of the importance of the Rosary as that great weapon God has given us to defeat the enemy. The crowd then received with great excitement, the Relic Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe while Alexander Acha sang “La Guadalupana”. During the Eucharistic Celebration, Msgr. Carlos Garfias, consecrated the Archdiocese of Guerrero to the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary and was followed by the secretary of the governor who consecrated the State; by the mayor of Acapulco, who consecrated the city, and a deputy who consecrated himself and his office. Then the Archbishop led all the faithful in their personal and initial consecration to the Two Hearts, establishing that this consecration would be renewed every year on the same date. Eduardo Verastegui then gave a final message asking Our Lady of Guadalupe to intercede for us, that we might be holy, and for Christ to reign in our hearts, homes and families to attain true peace.
