On Saturday April 20th, the Consecration Ceremony of the Archdiocese and State of Chihuahua began at 10:00 a.m. at the Gymnasium Manuel Bernardo Aguirre. The singer Alexander Acha opened the event with his song entitled “Mary”, while he shared with the attendees the importance of prayer and consecration, assuring them they would see the fruits of such an effort as God always keeps His promises. Then a natural-sized image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, touched to the Original Sacred, entered in procession all the way to the altar carried by a group of Matachines while Alexander and his father Emmanuel, sang “La Guadalupana”.It was then time for Msgr. Rafael Sandoval Bishop of Tarahumara to address the over 10 thousand attendees coming from the different dioceses that make up the Archdiocese of Chihuahua. He focused on the importance of Consecration, referring to a known painting of Jesus outside a house knocking on the door which has no handle on the outside, giving the people to understand that what they were about to do was a voluntary act thru which they would open the door to God and let Him in to belong to Him with no fears, for He never imposes Himself.Afterwards began the Eucharistic Celebration presided by the Archbishop of Chihuahua, Msgr. Constancio Miranda Weckman and concelebrated by the 6 Bishops of the different Dioceses: Tarahumara, Juatez, Cuauhtemoc-Madera, Nuevo Casas Grandes and Parral with the participation of 150 priests. The governor of the State of Chihuahua, Cesar Duarte, accompanied by his wife Bertha Gomez (president of DIF), were also present along with the representatives of the judicial and legislative branches, Javier Ramirez Benitez and Alejandro Dominguez respectively, and the mayor of Chihuahua Adan Marco Quezada. After Communion, Msgr. Constancio Weckman together with the other Bishops consecrated the Archdiocese of Chihuahua and with it all the parishes, priests, religious, seminarians and faithful to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to the Immaculate Heart of Mary establishing April 20th as the official date in which such Consecration must be renewed every year. The governor Cesar Duarte then consecrated the State of Chihuahua to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary inviting everyone to have a positive attitude of reflection to leave behind the times that had hurt them and thus begin a new time for Chihuahua. The event ended with a brief message from actor Manuel Capetillo, who spoke of the importance of living a consecrated life on a daily path of conversion where prayer from the heart, plays a vital part.
