A Congress on the occasion of the Year of Mercy called “Congress of Reconciliation, Sacrament of Mercy” was held on Monday June 6th at the Shrine of the Martyrs of Christ. The theme of the Congress was the call to conversion and to live a life of grace with the Sacraments. The Mission was invited to speak of the meaning of consecration to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary and the graces and blessings that are received by it. Luis Navarro, head of the Mission committee in Guadalajara gave that talk at noon and the Consecration Mass was celebrated at 6:30 p.m. It was presided by Fr. Eugenio Hoyos, visiting priest from Arlington, Virginia and it was concelebrated by Fr. Gerardo Aviña, Rector of the Shrine and Fr. David, invited priest from the Parish of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. During the Congress the guest speakers spoke about consecration, the need we have for conversion, of recognizing the Lordship of Jesus in our lives and our surrender to the Will of God thru the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Thus, when the time came for the 900 attendees to make their personal consecration to the Two Hearts during the Eucharist, their response was very favorable. We give thanks to God for having been able to participate in this wonderful event.
