ARCHDIOCESE OF BOGOTA
Renewal of the Consecration of Colombia to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
On Friday June 23rd, the Congregation of the Sacred Heart and The Mission For the Love of God in Colombia, united to celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The Mission invited different groups and Catholic communities to participate in a procession, praying the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Holy Rosary from downtown to the Cathedral. The procession began at 11:00 a.m. with the participation of over 500 people including Fr. Francisco Pardo, 82-year-old Dominican and some Catholic media. A thousand diptychs with the Mission’s prayers were distributed among the attendees and spectators.
At 12 p.m. Msgr. German Medina presided the Holy Eucharist among other priests who concelebrated, and in his homily he said: “people are sick because of lack of love…but God surprises us with the force of His love that has overcome, overcomes and will overcome death. We need the look of faith to recognize the presence of God solidary with human dramas. St. Paul reminds us that Christians are witnesses of the transformative force of His love, for we have known the love God has for us and we have believed in it. His open heart on the cross is the ultimate proof of his love and opens the source of salvation where the new people of God are washed in the water and blood that flow from his side. There we find the faithful and gratuitous love of God for his people, a love of donation that anticipates ours and expects fidelity. We need to return to the Lord to be animated by Him and learn from Him who is meek and humble in heart and thus learn to love one another with his same love, that is compassionate, slow to anger and ready to forgive. Let the Heart of Jesus Christ speak to our hearts today, consecrate your lives to the Heart of Christ. Let us once more receive the benefits of his inexhaustible love and the abundance of his grace. God is love and who abides in love, abides in God. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in You!”.
After communion Msgr. Medina renewed the Consecration of Colombia to the Sacred Heart of Jesus before His image and from there, gave the final blessing. He thanked The Mission on behalf of the Archdiocese of Bogota for our collaboration in this festivity.
